Over de set Sluban WW2 SU-85 Tank Destroyer Set

Build a compact piece of armoured history with the Sluban WW2 SU-85 Tank Destroyer Set, model M38-B0687. With 347 pieces, this military vehicle set recreates the distinctive low-profile silhouette of the Soviet SU-85 in an engaging building experience for ages 10 and up. Its casemate-style hull, sloped armour and forward-mounted gun give the finished model an unmistakable tank-destroyer character.

Designed for collectors, display builders and history enthusiasts, this SU-85 model brings convincing armoured-vehicle detail to a manageable format. The construction process offers plenty to enjoy, from assembling the tracked lower hull and angular superstructure to completing the long main gun and compact crew compartment. The result is a sturdy display model with a purposeful, field-ready appearance rather than a generic tank shape.

Whether placed alongside other military vehicles, used as the centrepiece of a World War 2 collection or built simply for the pleasure of creating a classic armoured design, this Sluban set makes a rewarding project. The 347 compatible construction bricks are suited to hands-on building and imaginative display, while the subject gives the model lasting appeal for enthusiasts of armoured warfare, military engineering and historically inspired vehicle design.

Historische achtergrond

The SU-85 was a Soviet self-propelled gun developed during World War 2 on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank. Instead of a rotating turret, it used a fixed, enclosed fighting compartment with a powerful 85 mm gun mounted in the front. This lower, turretless layout helped create a compact vehicle with a strong forward profile and made it recognisable as a dedicated tank destroyer.

The SU-85 entered service in 1943, when Soviet forces needed greater anti-armour capability against increasingly well-protected German tanks. Its design combined the mobility of the T-34 platform with a heavier gun, allowing it to support armoured formations and engage enemy vehicles at useful distances. Later developments with improved armament led to related vehicles, but the SU-85 remains an important example of wartime Soviet self-propelled artillery and practical battlefield engineering.
