Tło historyczne

RMS Titanic was a British Olympic-class ocean liner operated by the White Star Line. Built in Belfast and launched in 1911, she was designed for luxurious transatlantic travel, combining spacious passenger accommodation with the latest shipbuilding technology of her era. At the time, her size, interiors, and engineering represented the ambition of the early twentieth-century passenger liner industry.

Titanic began her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in April 1912. After striking an iceberg in the North Atlantic, she sank in the early hours of 15 April, becoming one of the most studied and remembered maritime disasters in history. Her story continues to interest historians, naval enthusiasts, and collectors because it brings together ocean-liner design, social history, engineering, and the human experience of travel at sea.
