О наборе Sainte-Mère-Église WW2 Church Scene

Recreate a memorable Normandy scene with the Sluban M38-B1532 Sainte-Mère-Église WW2 Church Scene. Inspired by one of the best-known episodes of D-Day, this display-focused set brings together the distinctive village church, airborne action and the tense atmosphere of a town caught in the opening hours of the Allied invasion. It is a compact historical vignette designed to be enjoyed as both a building project and a conversation-starting piece for a military collection.

The church forms the visual centre of the model, giving the scene an unmistakable silhouette and a strong sense of place. Surrounding details help turn the build into more than a standalone structure, suggesting the confusion and urgency of a nighttime airborne landing in Normandy. With its recognizable subject and storytelling potential, the set offers young builders and adult collectors an accessible way to explore a famous moment through compatible construction bricks.

Recommended for ages 6 and up, this Sluban set works well as an introduction to historical dioramas, a display addition for a World War II collection or a foundation for a wider Normandy-themed layout. The M38-B1532 is especially appealing to builders who enjoy military scenes with architectural character, rather than vehicles alone. Build the church, arrange the scene and revisit the dramatic story associated with Sainte-Mère-Église from a new perspective.

Историческая справка

Sainte-Mère-Église was a small town in Normandy that became an important objective during the Allied airborne operations of 6 June 1944. Paratroopers of the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division were assigned to help secure the area ahead of the seaborne landings, making the town one of the first places liberated by Allied forces on D-Day. Its church and surrounding streets became closely associated with the confusion of the night landings and the fighting that followed.

The church is particularly remembered for the story of U.S. paratrooper John Steele, whose parachute caught on the steeple during the drop. Unable to descend normally, he remained suspended above the square while the battle unfolded below, surviving the ordeal before being taken prisoner and later escaping. That dramatic episode, together with the town’s role in the Normandy invasion, has made Sainte-Mère-Église one of the most recognizable locations connected with D-Day.
